The Federal Government will fund the purchase and demolition of ACT homes found with loose-fill asbestos, but will do nothing for NSW homes. The danger of the material is so great that the ACT Government says there is no way houses can be rendered safe and so must be demolished. The NSW Government has only recently organised a response to the decades-old problem and there are calls for similar Federal Government assistance.
